Christelle Koché had the audacity to book a 17,000-seater arena for her Fall 2019 show during. But for us, this move was rightly deserved as her latest line was a rockstar of a collection. Combining classic couture elements with her vivacious streetwear sensibilities, she delivered an equilibrium of youthful prowess with timelessly elegant style. If you think such a hybrid is almost impossible to execute, think again. That strong cherry-hued mini skirt-suit that opened the show presented a compelling case for such, with its daring silhouettes yet overall traditional shape. A bright tangerine cocoon coat worn with an outlandish ostrich-feathered wide-brimmed hat combined the excess of classic couture extravaganza with the pragmatic protective approach of modern-day minimalism (yet the look was far from minimal!). And how about the structured jackets patchworked in various textiles and finishes? Simply stunning. There was a confidence here that was both staggering and appropriate, even though some looks barely worked at all (those deconstructed frilly tops should never put to production!). Still, fashion is all about fun, and this season, such was delivered by Koché!
