What in the ‘grandmother’s drapes’ was going on with Leonard Paris? Their Fall 2019 show was just too much—too many prints, too much oversizing, just too much! What led was such an unsophisticated offering from one of the chicer labels in Paris. Usually, Leonard Paris is a refined brand that offers just the right touch of everything. What Christine Phung needed to do here was edit. We saw that there was potential in the line and had everything been toned down, this would have been a fantastic collection. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. It was basically a print parade of old patterns and graphics that other houses have used before. Not even the styling worked in its favor. It’s possible they were going for a quirkier look, but everything just looked wacky. The overall atmosphere was camp in the worst ways possible. Hopefully, the brand will do better next season with a more refined collection!
