Who here would like to wear an unflattering oversized fleece sweater bearing a sperm print. Most likely no one will, which begs the question as to why Ashley Williams decided to open her Fall 2019 show with such a travesty. In fact, her entire collection disgusted us in more ways than one, which is a shame because her narrative—empowering women through sexuality—was strong and relevant. Her collection, however, was weak and pathetic. There are many ways to go the quirky and kitschy route, Williams, unfortunately, took one of the worse ones to do this season. With unspeakably unflattering proportions, frumpy silhouettes, and low-quality fabrications, she put forth a wardrobe so tacky and irrelevant, not even vintage and thrift stores would display them in their front windows. They’re likely to hide such pieces within racks and racks of old stuff! The terrible clash of prints and garish colors were purely of bad taste—and it’s not the good Prada kind neither! Granted she most likely saw all of it as just good fun, for us, it was a rather waste of a collection. “Whoops!” was written on a poorly-made pair of pants in one of her looks and it perfectly describes this whole line: a terrible mistake!
