“Magic City” was printed on the bleached denim jacket in the menswear side of Alchemist’s Fall 2019 collection. This season, it was all about the US of A, handling various aesthetic tropes of the powerhouse country’s vast culture and history and putting an underground spin on them. The previously mentioned logo-ed denim jacket was paired with a similarly bleached pair of jeans with tribal patch pockets that seemed influenced by Native American imagery. As was the black leather men’s shoulder bag with fringes. A sleeveless black leather vest, on the other hand, had all types of studs and spiked that evoked the biker culture in the more rural areas of the country. There was a slightly Wild Western edge in this collection, amplified only by designer Roma Cohen‘s underground urban sensibility. Among all the pieces in this Alchemist line that pointed to that effect, the studded leather black-and-white jacket with fringed sleeves and the American flag printed at the back did so the most. The item encapsulated the whole collection down to a tee. It doesn’t get more American than this!
