Issey Miyake doesn’t have to prove anything anymore within the fashion sphere, but that hasn’t stopped the brand from creating beautiful collections. Their Fall 2019 offering was one such, which was more of a gentle take on industrial tailoring with a hint of glamour. Imagine a black suit with gilded tiger stripes magnified all over the wide silhouette. This was the look that started the show, and right then and there it started a narrative on how everyday masculine tropes can be glamourized. A grey set of separates looked like an ordinary uniform for work, but that bright pop of a neon yellow fanny pack created a tension that’s eye-catching and interesting. That similar tension was further amplified in a look that combined a cobalt blue sweater, grey degrades trousers and vividly hot pink footwear. They led to a section of psychedelic swirls of vibrancy that painted a whole host of traditional tailoring, juxtaposing a quite intimidating visual appeal with shapes and forms that were more or less approachable in nature. Such is now the twist on the Issey Miyake runway this season!
