There must be something about showing in their own home cities that make designers more glorious. When Kate and Laura Mulleavy went to Paris during last fashion show, there was an emptiness that both New York City and the Rodarte brand experienced. For Rodarte Spring 2019, the duo went back to The Big Apple and things felt right again. For their most-awaited comeback, the brand presented their signature style of romantic edginess and unapologetic femininity. Leather and lace were cut into frills upon frills on cocktail dresses and tailored separates. Vintage-style florals decorated evening gowns and maxi dresses, perfect for a romantic and elegant evening affair. Even metallics made their way on the runway again, with as much flounce and ruffles as they can take. Finally, New York women can get their quirky fashion fix thanks to an extraordinary design duo that finally went home.
