While most summer camp memories conjure up thoughts on pre-teen angsts and summer woes, the two Veronica Beards that make up their eponymous contemporary label were inspired by such for Pre-Fall 2019. Their big star of the season? The rugby shirt. But before one dismisses this as another sportswear staple, here, the classic garment is made much more refined and business-savvy in a way. The first look, for instance, is a red-striped variation that put the right amount of youth and ease to a gray pantsuit. While another, in black-and-blue stripes, had slightly puffed-up sleeves and paired with a slim pair of jeans for that tinge of nostalgia and romanticism, but remaining casual and cool at the same time. Other pieces in this offering were signature Veronica Beard favorites as well, like the plaid blazer, comfy knits, and soft tailoring. And although there are only about thirteen looks in the mix, each one garners a refined yet also childlike take on urban style and sophistication.
