Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone London Review

Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone London Review 1
Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone London Review
Description
Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose & Oud is a pleasant take on the oriental note, albeit a little faint than desired by those who often seek it out. We find that it is easy to wear because of this, and will not be off-putting to those who will be in close proximity to the fragrance. The Velvet Rose & Oud plays it safe from the opening to the drydown, but this comes at the cost of feeling that there is nothing unique about it. It might interest those who are seeking to discover the wonders of oud, but not so much for those who are long familiar with the note.

Positives
We think the scent is very linear from beginning to end
Ideal for those who do not want to draw much attention on what they are wearing
A very wearable fragrance
Pleasant and generally inoffensive
Negatives
Very close to the skin, feels diluted compared to others with similar accords
Not a very distinctive oud fragrance
We find the wear time for the scent to be below average, vanishing a couple of hours after application

Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose & Oud may not wow fans of oud, but it is ideal for those who are just discovering the oriental accord. The fragrance was originally introduced by the brand in 2012 as an addition to its already established set of scents and flankers. Fabrice Pellegrin is the man responsible for its creation. He has blended Velvet Rose & Oud by using notes of oud, damask rose, clove and praline.
