Watchmaking is a traditional craft passed down from generation to generation. Despite all the innovations and technological advancements it has seen in the last few decades, the very essences of the craft are still used today. From timeless designs to classic engineering, a lot of the traditions established centuries ago are still alive and well in today’s world of haute horology. A timepiece that manifests the Small Model from Vacheron Constantin’s Traditionnelle collection.

Each watch costs $33,000 and is available in three distinct colorways.

The Traditionnelle Small Model watch is a fine piece of classic and traditional watchmaking set for today’s standards. It’s a harmonic mix of elegant design and age-old engineering all encased in one contemporary and sleek look. The watch’s more modern iteration comes with a white gold case and crown and a metal dial, while the more classic-looking piece features 18-karat gold all the way. Topped off with a diamond-encrusted bezel, the Swiss luxury watch brand outdid themselves with their Traditionnelle Small Model and put utmost sophistication back to their current lineup.
Although beautiful and beguiling, the watch features little to no new design sensibilities. The model offers no innovation or revolution which, while stays true to its name “Traditionnelle,” makes it less exciting compared to other timepieces from competitors or even other selections from the brand. In the highly competitive world of haute horology, newness is the name of the game. And while the market celebrates classic styles and tradition, it only goes so far until a new timepiece changes the game again.
