Jun Takahashi is having somewhat of a horror movie moment that’s driving his seasonal collections, particularly graphics-wise. In his Fall 2019 womenswear collection for Undercover, he took on the recent 2018 thriller “Suspiria,” which told the story of a dance troupe turned witch coven and their many sinister adventures. As expected, the film’s eerie scenes informed the prints of the collection, most noteworthy of which is Tilda Swinton‘s Madam Blanc in a lavish red robe decorating a similarly opulent black cable knit coat. But the horror, at least the beauty of it, didn’t stop in the prints. The silhouettes also eerily elegant, what with the exaggerated elongation that almost all looks had a train following suit, akin to how blood drips from the body. Ironically enough, the palette was more animated, with shades of sea green, pale pink, aubergine, pale cerulean, and many others popping out from time to time. All in all, it was a marvelous offering, in it that it examined the horrors in everyday beauty. As well as it showed that even the prettiest of clothes can have the most sinister of ideas behind it!
