When one thinks of travel, billowy caftans, short-shorts and string bikinis almost always come to mind. But for Tory Burch, she has a different take on such travel gear. Her spring 2019 collection was filled with travel-ready pieces, all of which looked polished and perfect. This ladylike nomad wasn’t one to go to muscle beaches or music festivals, but rather luxury cruises and elegant evening affairs. The nautical-like look that began the show was the obvious signifier. It was clear from the first few looks that this was to be an old-school sophisticated show that harkened back to the days of Chanel and Lanvin. Although Tory Burch was never into the streetwear phenomenon, her style in recent seasons always had a sporty element to it that was obviously put in place to strike a chord on that millennial crowd. This season, however, she unapologetically went back to her elegant roots and the clothes were as beautiful as ever.
