What kind of fashion merits a description of modernity? Is it an outrageous and totally new look that no one has seen before? Is it an avant-garde approach? According to Grazia Malagoli, Sportmax’s fashion director, it’s all about versatility. Her Pre-Fall 2019 Collection for the Milanese brand was full of pieces that wearers can interchange to their liking. Coats can become dresses, trousers can be transformed into shorts, lengths can be altered, and silhouettes can change in a snap. These are garments that cater to a woman’s complex and busy lives. But even with this ingenious idea, Malagoli was still able to create a beautiful and minimalist offering that’s utterly luxurious. Her versatile pieces are tailored to perfection, with each piece, detachable or not, precisely cut and constructed. The fabrications are fascinating points as well, having used high-quality leather and pristine cottons and silks for the more feminine numbers. But is this modern? Undeniably so!
