Sportswear brands have been having quite a moment these past few years with the emergence of athleisure and streetwear. But as these various retail giants capitalize on the hype with collaborations, German label Fila chose to go big and beyond. They showed, for the very first time, in Milan Fashion Week spring 2019, right in between the big high fashion names like Prada, Armani, and Versace. In true sportswear fashion, Fila focused on garments frequented across multiple sports, such as tennis, swimming, basketball, and more. Despite the strong urban showing, there was also a lot of sophistication on the runway, particularly the stark white pieces that began the show. Will this historic show be the start of a new movement in fashion? Only time will tell!
