Of course! Of course, newly-appointed creative director Nikola Vasari’s first show for Faith Connexion was held at an underground nightclub. His clothes, after all, are perfect for such a location, especially his Fall 2019 collection for the brand. Inspired by the 80s, most notably the musical icons such as Grace Jones and David Bowie, his seasonal offering was a tribute to the partying lifestyle. And while the glam-rock essence was unquestionable, the taste here certainly was. There’s a way of creating party clothes with a refined eye but this, evidently, wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, there was a whole lot of gaudy awfulness that went on in this show, from the garish animal prints and undesirable streetwear pieces to the downright ugly evening looks that closed the show. Still, it was fun in its outright vulgarity, and maybe that is the underlying appeal of such pieces. But the brand is likely to have a difficult time getting new customers if they continue to go on this 80s-inflicted messy route. Here’s to hoping Mr. Vasari gets it together in the coming seasons!
