For about a decade or so, Dolce & Gabbana has been re-interpreting their signature Sicilian style season after season. But for resort 2019, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana changed things up just a little bit. Holding their show at New York City, one of their first international venues in a long time, their collection was a celebratory ode to the United States of America. A lot of their pieces were nods to classic American fashion, such as 1920s-esque fringe cocktail dresses and varsity-inspired separates. Some looks were even quite literal, like those of the “stars and stripes” variation. Even though many looks were borderline tacky, there’s no denying that this Italian fashion house knows how to do fun fashions as no other house can.
