Chanel Beauty Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick Review
Product Description
The Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick by the House of Chanel represents the worst possible tendencies of luxury beauty products: huge price tags, huge promises and… barely-there effects—especially for what you’re paying. This product touts itself as sort-of a multi-use balm highlighter, which in itself isn’t a problem. To be fair, the product does feel nice on the skin, and it can boast an ultra-light glowy finish when used on specific skin types, mostly drier skin. The real shocker of this product is its general ineffectuality. $45.00 for this kind of product wouldn’t be a shocker if it actually elevated makeup looks, but as it stands, it doesn’t really end up doing very much. First of all, if applied without a brush (which is sold separately) it drags makeup, and some base product even gets picked up on the balm stick. As mentioned, this product really does have a slight sheen when applied to certain skin types, but for most people, there’s just nothing discernible there. There may be a slight brightening, but it’s just not enough to justify the very existence of this product. All-in-all, based on what it can do, this product just isn’t worth what it costs because there are a lot of fantastic highlighters out there (both powders and creamier stick-type formulas) that can get the job done (and more) for less.

The beauty arm of the House of Chanel has put out plenty of lovely, effective—if slightly pricey—products over the years. Unfortunately, in a cruel twist of fate, the Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick is about as ineffective as it gets. There are plenty of high-priced luxury beauty items out there that at least try to justify their existence by working, but this stick highlighter just doesn’t do enough (or much of anything, really). Honestly, you can ditch this product in your routine, and just not feel any difference overall.

SUITABLE FOR: Dry skin types.
