Digital watches are slowly but surely dominating the luxury timepiece industry. More and more labels are turning to analog-digital movements to modernize their items. Although the nuts and bolts of traditional watchmaking have their own charms and quirks, today’s consumer audience want something more instant and futuristic. However, a sophisticated design is still a must in this luxury market, and if there’s one watch that exemplifies this beautiful balance, it’s Breitling’s Professional Aerospace Evo watch.

Breitling’s Aerospace model has been a classic for many years now. The original iteration debuted back in 1985 and to this day, the brand and its customers still keep it alive and well. One of their most recent reinventions, the Aerospace Evo timepiece from Breitling’s ‘Professional’ collection, makes the model all the more contemporary and even futuristic. This watch debuted during the French watch show “Le Montres” in Paris on November of 2013 and costs around $4,375.

Pros
The timepiece is made easier to navigate thanks to the genius engineers of Swiss luxury watch brand. All of its new features, particularly the digital LCD time display, are all controlled by its titanium crown. The watch also runs on a Caliber 79 “SuperQuartz” movement that is a COSC-certified chronometer—ten times more accurate than a regular watch. Complementing its futuristic functions is its contemporary design of a matte titanium case and volcano black dial. Moreover, it looks all the more industrial with the choice of anthracite or black diver strap.
Cons
Design-wise, digital watches pale in comparison to the more glamorous and traditional timepieces brought forth by a bevy of other brands. No matter how novel this model’s titanium matte finish and somber silver-and-black colorway look, the shimmering rose golds, stainless steel, and encrusted diamonds are more likely to captivate the general public more. The glamour factor, which is still vital in the luxury watchmaking business today, is not that present within this particular timepiece.
