Can layering ever be light? This is a common conundrum that fashion designers have been trying to solve for decades, but for Pre-Fall 2019, Alejandra Alonso Rojas laid out a fascinating and beautiful proposal. This season, she’s proving that there can be lightness in layering, as long as you have the right fabrications. Take for example a pantsuit, usually made out of wool, but here was cut from deep ocean blue-colored silk. It was ethereal as it was elegant—the perfect daily workwear that can easily transition to evening. In the same vein, shimmering silky maxi skirts paired with her signature fluffy knits were sophisticated ideas for a day-to-night wardrobe. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Alejandra Alonso Rojas collection without a stunning color palette, of which was a stunning harmonious mix of stark shades, the likes of crimson, ocean blue, and black, with delicious pastel tones of pink, daffodil yellow, and cream. This might just be Rojas’ most luxurious collection yet!
