It’s one thing to call Albert Kriemler an artistic designer (which he is), it’s another when you call him a craftsman. Although most of his previous collections have proven him to be the former, his Pre-Fall 2019 Collection for Akris stands testament to the fact that he is also the latter. This season, he slightly shifted his focus from artistic inspirations to using unbelievably luxurious fabrics. Cashmere was the most used here, and not just on dresses and sweaters, but also on some of the most comfortable outerwear trotted out this pre-season. A black trench coat, for example, would have fooled anybody with its distinct shape and indelible form, but it’s actually made out of some of the finest cashmere Kriemler ever used. To provide more structure in some of the looks, the Swedish designer also made use of double-faced caban, particularly in a color-blocked coat that’s all kinds of “city chic.” Through his use of stark colors and interesting graphics, it’s evident that Kriemler didn’t lose his artistic touch when constructing this collection. And those lucky enough to wear this come fall will definitely look like walking pieces of art!
