Who loves a powerful woman? Definitely Each x Other co-founder Ilan Delouis. For Pre-Fall 2019, he conjured up an image of this silently powerful dominatrix, whose closet is full of both feminine and masculine pieces and wear both with a subtle sense of confidence and dominance. Take a well-cut pinstriped pantsuit, for example, which the Each x Other woman unapologetically pairs with a simple tee. At the same time, her other pinstriped pantsuit is paneled with patches of glimmering silk satin, offering a versatile and more elegant approach to this work-appropriate attire. It’s clear from this collection that Delouis isn’t afraid to mix textiles, which is why most of the more structured tailored pieces are patchwork creations. Evidently, such items allow the woman to wear them however she wants, such as exposing her shoulder through a lappelled business jacket or enveloping her entire body in a luscious black leather cocoon coat. The power play here is the ability of women to dress however they want, even with the most masculine of tropes.
