The convergence of both sportswear and sophistication continues to fascinated designers nowadays. People seem to prefer clothes that are both fashionable and functional which allow them to be versatile throughout their day. And even if such a hybrid has become overused at this point, designers like Amy Smilovic of Tibi continues to draw on this concept for their latest offerings. Take her Pre-Fall 2019 collection, for example, which is a refined take on sporty ready-to-wear. As usual, the tailoring here was precise and sharp, but it also had a more nonchalant vibe with less attention to fit and more toward comfort and ease. Denim separates, both women’s pantsuit and a well-cut men’s jacket, were less restricting than what this brand usually offers. In the same vein, Smilovic also injected a bit of jest onto her clothes, including the use of shimmering silver silk lame to make an easy-to-wear jumpsuit that looked athleisure with a hint of elegance. It seems that high fashion sportswear isn’t going away any time soon, at least, not when luxury labels like Tibi has anything to say about it.
