Polo Ralph Lauren has always ventured within the fine line between young sophisticate and urban bohemian. There’s always an elegance to the clothes, as well as a nonchalant youthfulness that the label targets. For spring 2019, this narrative became starker than ever before. One can instantly see which piece will fit which type of customer. For those young professional gaining way to the top, they’re offered exquisitely-cut white shirts, neutral-toned tailoring, and vertical-striped separates. They were classic and refined but with a bit of intense graphics to capture the youth. For those nomadic bohemians, on the other hand, their wardrobe for the music festivals is already here. Tie-dye shirts, scarf-print maxi dresses, and brightly-colored blousons. There was even a sportswear element injected, what with the hoodies and sweaters bearing the “POLO” name. This collection was intrinsically in-line with what the brand has stood for all these years, which is a timely gesture since the big man himself, Ralph Lauren, just celebrated 50 years in the industry.
