Polo Black by Ralph Lauren Review
We all know the usual associations that come with a ‘black’ or ‘dark’ fragrance, but Polo Black would subvert expectations. Instead of being deep and intense, it is bright and spicy, the mango accord later lending it more sweetness. To us, it has the makings of an everyday scent, especially on the weekends. Packed with quite a sillage and staying power, this should be applied sparingly because it could still be too much to take when overapplied even though it has a bright character.

Not overly sweet even when it has mango
Staying power is average
Wearable despite what the name may imply
We think that this should be applied in moderation as it can overwhelm in an instant
Not dark as what the bottle and name may suggest

Polo Black was released by Ralph Lauren in 2005. A scent characterized as woodsy and aromatic, it was signed by perfumer Pierre Negrin. The notes are listed as sandalwood, wormwood, sage, tonka bean, mango, lemon and patchouli. It is safe for wear on off-duty days and casual occasions.
