No one can play with print and color quite like Dries Van Noten. In all his years as an independent designer, he mixed and matched hues and patterns in unique and exciting ways. But even as he sold a major stake of his company to the Puig group, he’s still the master artist he’s always been, as proven by his Spring 2019 menswear show. The collection was pure optimism defined by the bursts of colors he presented on the runway. Even despite the utilitarian pieces he showed—boilersuits and tailored separates—a happy rainbow was painted among them. The gradient looks in particular, whether in electric blue, sun-kissed yellow or cherry red, had everyone wishing it was summer already so they can all wear them now.
