Bel Ami Vetiver by Hermès Review
Description
It would be ambitious to expect Bel Ami Vétiver to match the original, and true enough, it falls short of being as memorable as Bel Ami. But this is not a failure, with its opening of zesty notes later to be enveloped by spices. The heart is similar to the original, except now it also features vetiver which to us is a beautiful addition. The woodsy base completes the warm scent that performs great and projects well in chillier seasons.

Positives
Mature aroma featuring both citrus and spices
Able to provide warmth during colder seasons
Heavier sillage and longer staying power, even when compared to Bel Ami
Negatives
We think that the scent would be cloying under hotter weather
Not as remarkable as the original
Pretty niche, not for everyone’s noses

In 2013, Jean-Claude Ellena created Bel Ami Vetiver for Hermès. The scent is a flanker to a classic house fragrance, Bel Ami. It features a few floral and animalic accords. The notes are listed as basil, cardamom, carnation, elemi, patchouli, vetiver, civet, vanilla, amber and styrax.
