Bois d’Iris by Van Cleef & Arpels Review
Description
Admirers of iris will find a treasure in Van Cleef & Arpels’ Bois d’Iris. As the name suggests, the note is complemented by woodsy accords, which subsides the overwhelmingly sweet smell that iris sometimes emits. The predominant note is also creamy to us even when it is surrounded by smoky wood and spices. Despite being marketed as a woman’s scent, the citrusy opening can easily be confused for a more masculine pick. The refined blend also lends some warmth that is comforting for colder seasons.

Bois d’Iris distinguishes itself from the rest of the five other fragrances that Van Cleef & Arpels has released alongside it in 2009, despite being contained in similar perfume bottles. The launched fragrances, grouped together as Collection Extraordinaire, also includes Gardenia Petale, Muguet Blanc, Cologne Noire, Orchidee Vanille, and Lys Carmin. Bois d’Iris was formulated by perfumer Emilie Copperman. Its ingredients are listed as frankincense, amber, ambergris, labdanum, iris and myrrh.
