Memoir Woman by Amouage Review
Memoir Woman starts out great but ends up filling us with a nagging desire to scrub. The syrupy, sweet opening of orange, cardamom and leather, among others, is intense and there’s no doubting that. But there is also some softness that casts some restraint on the notes. However, the latter part of the scent fails to maintain such state. The fruits begin to envelop the leather and the accords feel like they’re clashing with each other. This has excellent staying power but we really would be better off without; it feels we have been duped for how Memoir Woman eventually felt and smelled.
Beautiful blast of notes in the opening
Pepper and leather are both sweet and soft in the beginning
Excellent sillage and longevity
The leather does not blend well with the fruity accords that emerge later on
The development does not build on the promise of its opening
Save Big At:
Memoir Woman is another of Amouage’s fragrances. Released in 2010, it was designed by both Dorothée Piot and Daniel Maurel. The top notes for the fragrance are mandarin orange, wormwood, pink pepper and cardamom, while the heart notes are incense, jasmine, clove, rose and pepper. The base has styrax, musk, oakmoss, leather and labdanum. Memoir Woman has a matching masculine fragrance.
