How would you feel if your luxurious evening gown was actually made out of leftover fabric? This is a question posed by Mary Alice Haney through her green label’s Pre-Fall 2019 Collection. An array cocktail attire and eveningwear, it’s a rare and elegant take on sustainable fashion which, at this point, had only been a conversation dominated by mass production. Although it’s important that the ready-to-wear side of fashion do the most in finding sustainable ways of creating new clothes, evening wear doesn’t have to be out of the loop here neither. Having experienced one of the worst fires in California first-hand, Haney knows the value of taking care of Mother Earth and instilled it unto her own label. As mentioned earlier (though it’s worth highlighting once more), most of these slinky dresses, figure-hugging gowns, and sexy daywear separates are made out of recycled fabrics. Yet, even upon close inspection, one would have never thought of it. There lies the genius of Mary Alice Haney and her mission to ensure that fashion becomes a huge force in sustainability in years to come.
