Dennis Basso loves dressing powerful women—a tradition he continued for Pre-Fall 2019. This season, his dominatrix is one that would go from “from the boardroom to the ballroom,” with little to no stops in between. It’s no surprise that most of his daywear exemplified a kind of versatile elegance that would work in any setting. A sleek chocolate brown leather sheath can be worn with a slightly darker-toned suede jacket for the office and accessorized with a lot of bling for an elegant evening affair. While a freeform caftan-like punch-pink silk dress, on the other hand, works for any time of day with the right shoes. More than the powerplay, craftsmanship was also most evident in this line, particularly with the clear plastic trench coat embroidered with fur houndstooth patterns. Definitely, this woman Dennis Basso is designing for wants only the best of the best, and he is happy to oblige.
