Sex has been a strong selling point for fashion since the 1990s (some may even argue it started in the 1950s with Christian Dior). Today, it’s not just about the sexual intimacies in the bedroom, but also the rules of sexual liberties and the societal divides between sexes and genders. For his pre-fall 2018 collection, Alexander Wang explored the sexual deviancy of strong, modern women who are at the pinnacle of their careers. The strength of these dominatrixes are immensely reflected on the rigidly-tailored pieces, cut in the most provocative black leather one can find. There was even an unmistakable sense of BDSM, shrouded in the sophistication of the designer’s ladylike CEO approach. Feminism has often struggled with embracing a feminine look, but this pre-fall offering from Alexander Wang might just do the trick!
