In this politically-charged time, people have their eyes wide open to see what message fashion designers are sending down the runway. During his spring 2019 womenswear show, Alexander Wang highlighted immigration—a hot-button issue in many countries right now. Wang, however, did not take a specific stance on the matter, but rather recounted his own origins as an Asian-American immigrant. In a sense, his motorbike-chick look was indicative of a a travelling nomad who’s an immigrant of the world. She’s a universal-type woman, tough and ready for anything. Ironically, in the process of highlighting a political issue, Wang also shed light on another: the power and strength of the woman as a citizen of the world.
