All that glitters is not gold. At times, they’re silver and just as precious and expensive. Gold has held the reputation as the most luxurious metal for quite some time now. Even by just the color, it’s already tantamount to unbelievable wealth and power. Silver, however, has been second fiddle to gold but in terms of value, that’s not necessarily the case anymore. Silver has become a coveted material, color, and metal in of itself. It’s elegant, sleek, and pristine. In fact, a lot of jewelry brands have started giving more attention to silver in recent years. But none have given it as much precious thought as Asprey.

While other jewelry brands focus on their gilded pieces, Asprey puts their emphasis on their silverware. Paired with the crystal sparkles of their diamonds, they give off a clean and pristine look that is both timeless and elegant. People have fallen in love with their classic pieces, all of which evoke a sense of sophistication that can’t be seen anywhere else. Such is the appeal of Asprey, whose silver pieces enamors clients all over the world. With their unique signature, they’ve come to rival the likes of Tiffany & Co. and Harry Winston.

Royal family connections

Having been around for more than two centuries, Asprey has formed a unique and long-lasting relationship with the British Royal family, one of the most prominent and distinguished families in the world. In 1862, Queen Victoria herself gave the company their first Royal Warrant, officially showing the world that the Royal Family recognizes the brand’s excellence in their craft. In 1925, Queen Mary commissioned a necklace to be made by the label for her granddaughter, Princess Margaret, for the latter’s 18th birthday. In 1975, Queen Elizabeth, on the other hand, awarded Asprey with the Queen’s Award for Industry, solidifying their position as one of the premier jewelers of the world.

Brand history

The company was founded by William Asprey in 1781. It began as a silk printing business, creating prints and patterns for the finest fabrics of England’s elite at the time. They eventually ventured into other areas of the luxury business and soon, Asprey became an emporium of the finest products in the kingdom. Among their line of products were fine jewelry and high-quality leather goods. Dressing cases for the jet-setting crowd of the time became one of their specialties. In 1847, they opened their new headquarters at 167 New Bond Street, an area they still hold to this day.

By the 20th century, the brand became prominent for their leather goods but decided to also put more emphasis on their jewelry. They hired silversmiths, goldsmiths, and jewelers to make the finest pieces known to man. Craftsmen such as Ernest Betjeman worked for the company, producing some of the most memorable items in the history of the jewelry business. As they were growing their jewelry line, they also started expanding overseas, selling in America and eventually in other parts of Europe and Asia. Today, they sell their pieces all over the world, keeping their signature style of timeless elegance and world-class sophistication.

Silver signatures

Silver is as precious to Asprey as is gold, maybe even more so. Their silverware are some of the fines in the world, constructed through traditional processes but enthused with contemporary designs. The “Asprey Swan,” for example, is a unique creation for the home. Made with fine silver and hours of expert craftsmanship, the real-looking creation makes for grandeur and elegant feature for the home. The brand also specialized in children’s silverware—an array of adorable money banks, plates, and utensils that shimmer and shine as bright as diamonds. Such accessories make for treasures to pass on from one generation to the next—an testament to the timeless elegance Asprey has become known for.

Timepieces

Asprey Rolex Collaboration

Asprey is no stranger to horology as they’ve made some of the most interesting timepieces known to the luxury business. Their watches are even in collaboration with premier brand Rolex, creating their sophisticated faces that are world-renowned. Their Bovet 1822 collection offers a vintage feel of timeless elegance, complete with their signature high-quality leather straps. Additionally, their clocks are nothing like what one would see in different brands: their modern sculptures with old-school refinement but modern sensibilities. Whatever horology piece you’d get from Asprey, they’re all enthused with that sophisticated, high-quality touch that they’ve become known for through the years.

Flip rings

Despite being around for so long, Asprey still innovates their products into new and interesting iterations of fine jewelry. One of them is their “Flip Rings” collection, a line of rings that one can flip from one design to the next. With three designs pieced together by a silver band, the flip rings offer the customer different styles that can fit anyone’s luxurious taste. They’re also offered in different colors, whether in classic gold, shimmering silver, or romantic rose gold. For the extra touch of sparkle, they’re also available as diamond-encrusted pieces, to really show off a luxurious look.

Leather goods

Contrary to popular belief, the brand actually began their leather goods line before they ventures into jewelry and horology. Today, they still offer stunning leather handbags that any woman would covet. Keeping up with other brands more prominent for the said field, they offer seasonal collections that are as fashionable and trendy, but still classic and timeless. They’re not afraid to offer their leather goods in vibrant colors or quirky prints, touching on a more youthful aesthetic to cover all bases. While a lot focus on their dazzling jewelry, their leather goods show that there’s more to Asprey than meets the eye.

Luxury comes in all shapes, sizes, and materials. While gold has become the unofficial emblem of wealth, silver offers a simpler, more subdued, and clean image of the rich lifestyle people aspire to. With such, Asprey has grown to be one of the most known and beloved jewelry brands for two centuries. Having catered to multiple generations, they’ve proven that even with silver, you can still achieve long-term success in the jewelry business.
