While Nicky Zimmermann explored the romantic side of the 1970s for her resort 2019 collection, she ventured into the full-on glamorous, ostentatious, and fabulous side for spring 2019. Inspired by the Australian soap opera “Number 96,” the “Dynasty” and “Days of Our Lives” of Down Under at the time, Zimmerman sent forth a parade of strong, sexy, and confident women on the runway. They were strong in their various hues, from dusty ecru, icy arctic blue, and shimmering gold. They were sexy in their short-shorts and mini-dresses, some in stark white or in the boldest shade of crimson red. And finally, there were confident in the various silhouettes displayed, such as the freeform and flowing kind that wafted across the runway and the patchwork pieces and softly-tailored looks the complimented the female figure. No doubt that Zimmerman’s woman, in this day and age, is taking a page out of the dominatrixes of the 70s to express her power through clothing. And to say that this collection is powerful is an understatement!
