Here’s a real talk: when you were 17, you were just dealing with normal teenager stuff—boyfriends, girl groups, glitter nail polishes, first few sets of lip tints and blushes. Right? Right?
If your answer is yes, then welcome to the majority of the human race that has gone through the normal stages of adolescence. For some though, their teenage world is far from the normalcy of our school-home-mall-park kind of a routine. Like for instance, Kaia Gerber.
Who is she?
Kaia Gerber has walked in various fashion shows during the fashion week, most of them are major attractions with the best supermodels gracing the runway. From Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Miu Miu, Versace, and Calvin Klein, to many more high-end fashion brands, she has rocked her catwalk like it’s nothing. If it isn’t enough, she also designed an entire clothing line with no other than Karl Lagerfeld and now has become the newest face of YSL Beauty.
Why is it such a big deal?
We’ll tell you—she is just seventeen.
The young star has been so lucky to have been born in the midst of all the glitz and glam of Hollywood and the fashion scene, having Cindy Crawford as her mom. She has gained attention for the past years, being signed by different magazines and fashion campaigns—we even have seen her become the face of Marc Jacobs in 2015.
Newest YSL Beauty line
The supermodel in the making utterly loves her new beauty family. In a press release, she mentioned how cool and luxurious the brand is, and that it is an opportunity for a new story of makeup. By start of 2019, the first ever campaign ad will be expected for the new line, bearing the face of Kaia Gerber.
The campaign was shot by David Sims, while Tom Pecheux, YSL’s Global Beauty Director and makeup artist. The first campaign will promote the Rouge Volupté Shine lipstick, while the next two will feature Touche Éclat highlighter pens and the Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils. These new products are a perfect match for the youthful, playful and edgy personality of Gerber, which also complements the Parisian beauty element that the new line has.
More Than Just A Job
While being the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty is every woman’s dream job, for the young supermodel, it’s much more than that. With her Instagram account gaining fame (almost 4 million followers!), plus her new international following, Kaia Gerber sees this chance as a moment to inspire others. Her exact words were, ““I think these days, everything you do has to be measured with a degree of responsibility. If there are people who view me as a role model, I really hope to be able to create positive images and messages that inspire others to feel confident about the way they look, to look after themselves, and basically to be kind to themselves.”
With her beauty, talent, and heart for a greater cause, it seems like Kaia Gerber is determined to create her own name and image aside from being tagged as “Cindy Crawford’s daughter.” We love it, and we’ll surely be on the lookout for this gal!
