The house of Versace has such a treasure trove of iconic archives that it’s okay to give Donatella Versace pass on what was kind of a confusing spring 2019 collection. But confusing, in this context, is a good thing as she put forth an array of eclectic ensembles of various prints and patterns that celebrated the brand’s indelible legacy. It started with a few work-ready separates in stripes and plaid, all brought together by fiery orange jackets and coats. As soon as Kaia Gerber appeared in a pantsuit paired with a Versace-logoed t-shirt, however, it was clear the show took a different turn. And it sure did with the sudden barrage of mini-skirts, patchwork pieces, sensual black leather garments, and so much more. It was all overwhelming but satisfying at the same time. And trust Donatella to give yet another supermodel moment as 90s legend Shalom Harlow closed the show in a half-floral-half-black chiffon maxi evening dress. Her powerful exit proved that the Versace-type of sexiness is still relevant nowadays, no matter what age the woman is.
