We get it! Everyone’s into oversizing nowadays. But there are proper ways to do it, be it for sportswear or for the avant-garde. Unfortunately for Vaquera, theirs this season was just awful. Their Fall 2019 collection was simply an exaggeration of classic shapes and traditional tailoring made to look edgy but came out looking gimmicky. We understand that a sense-of-humor is part of the brand’s identity, but there was nothing funny about the line at all. The clothes were just weird. Some, we don’t think, might not even classify as clothes. That huge lilac plaid thing and the shapeless (what looks to be) white tunic with the frills looked like a mattress cover and a blanket respectively. Though we might be facetious in saying this, it actually makes sense because the brand’s narrative this season is that of the modern millennials finding more comfort in staying home instead of going out. Though whichever ever they choose, they’d fare a lot better wearing those tailored suits (despite their oversizing) and tighter corset-like pieces than most of the oversized monstrosities!
