We’re not exactly sure what Ben Taverniti was thinking when he designed his latest collection, and we’re almost too afraid to ask! Whatever possessed him to come up with such a half-assed attempt at converging traditional tailoring with streetwise sportswear will always be baffling to us. And what’s more confusing? The fact that he thought his Fall 2019 collection was cool and interesting. Newsflash! It wasn’t! It was ugly, vulgar at times, gimmicky at best, and way below mediocre. Because it’s been overused for quite some time now, we’re no longer excited about the upscaling of sportswear, and so this line was a just an array of ‘been-there-done-that’ ideas that did little to fascinate us. And if he thought he was going to get us by mixing in a bit of tailoring, he thought wrong. There was nothing we enjoyed about seeing a sports bra paired with a slouchy pantsuit, that 80s-style broad-shouldered jacket with leather pants, or oversized parkas worn with cycling shorts. These looks have been so overused we wouldn’t even entertain them come fall. And unfortunately for Unravel, many customers might think the same!
