Crafting a luxury timepiece has become an artistic aspiration as it is mechanical engineering. A sense of beauty and refinement is often injected into making a high-quality watch, making it all the more luxurious if both are equally balanced. Whether it’s with steel or with gold, with diamonds or with sapphires, horologers make timepieces that are extraordinarily magnificent items. One such is Ulysse Nardin’s new Jade Jellyfish watch.

Pros
Ulysse Nardin’s new Jade Jellyfish timepiece is a thing of beauty the world of haute horology has seen in a while. A fantastic colorway of pale and old rose pink, sea foam teal, and shimmering silver from the shape of a well-known sea creature, dominating most of the watch’s face. Rows and rows of diamonds make up the jellyfish’s tentacles as well as encases the bezel together, making it look like the sea creature is housed in a miniature luxury aquarium. With such intricate design made out of luxurious materials, the Jade Jellyfish is one of the most beautiful timepieces from the Swiss brand’s iconic roster of Jade watches.
Cons
The jellyfish design takes up most of the watch’s face, leaving out one of the more important features of any timepiece: the numerals. Although a lot of people have certainly memorized the placing of such in any watch face by now, those numerals still help in easily and effortlessly telling the time. The intricate design makes it slightly difficult to do so, especially if the wearer is in a hurry. Jade’ Jellyfish’s functionality is dampened by its extraordinary beauty, making it more of a fashionable accessory than a useful timepiece.
