Whatever decade it may be, there’s no substituting old-school glamour, at least for Tom Ford. For spring 2019, about two decades or so later after his stunning heyday at Gucci, this superstar designer brought forth a collection that harkened back to those glamorous times of snakeskin leathers, shimmering silks, and headscarves. Albeit this time, there was a lot more sophistication and refinement, Ford’s signature sex appeal was still there. It was present in the sheer lace tops worn below tailored skirt-suits. It was present in the white tank-top paired with a ruched pencil skirt. As well as the leather bodices of the fringed evening gowns that closed the show. This not-so-subtle play on classic ostentatious glamour was refreshing to see against a business that has since been dominated by streetwear. And in no time, a lot of the A-list celebrities will be spotted wearing them, both on the streets or the red carpet.
