As several brands attempt to defy gender norms with their androgynous and often hybrid collections, Tom Ford is intent on redefining old-school masculinity with a hint of glamour. His Fall 2019 Menswear collection is just as aggressive, albeit sleek and clean, as most of his iconic offerings in the past. There was a dominant presence within the clothes—with how they’re cut so sharply and the precision of their styling. Most of the looks here were monochromatic, but each piece stood out in a small yet strong way. What might look like an ordinary navy suit was actually a combination of charcoal wool paired with a faintly polka-dotted button-up and a subtly striped tie. Shimmer and shine were also abundant here, by way of the ultra-sexy leather looks—which were intimidatingly sexual in nature.— and silky suits in sweet shades of pale rose and lilac. The latter numbers were the heights of sophistication, veering away from the standard somber-toned color scheme of menswear and taking on more palatable hues. After all this time, Tom Ford still knows how to dress a man’s man, and he’s looking as cool as ever!
