Don’t you just love it when a collection leaves you compelled and curious for more? That’s what Yasuko Furuta did with her latest Toga show. At London Fashion Week, her Fall 2019 collection was a combination of all sorts of different styles in a way never before seen on any runway. From voluminous couture shapes to exposing sportswear tropes, Furuta meshed the past and the future in a rather palatable blend. See the cocoon-like coats, some decorated with fanciful feathers, paired with shimmering pleather or mini-dresses. A well-ribbed knitted sweater with the torso cut-out revealed a mesh-like top that exposed everything underneath, but tastefully so with an equally fascinating sports bra. And what of the hooded coat-dress nipped at the waist by a stark red-orange belt? Though the graphics were confusing, the overall idea was stellar! This is the new look of the future, and no one could have come up with such than Yasuko Furuta!
