Like many other designers in recent years, Todd Snyder is packing in the nostalgia for his latest collection. But instead of novelty, his was a more personal approach that highlighted his career and relevance in American sportswear, from his time at Polo Ralph Lauren and Gap to his own eponymous label today. Furthermore, his take on 70s-90s Americana is saturated with modern cuts and a technicolor palette that’s sure to appeal to the Instagram crowd. In his Fall 2019 show, Snyder flexed his streetwear muscles to create what might be one of his best offerings to date, combining the romance of the past with today’s tough and urban edge. A navy azure-check suit, for example, was paired with vivid green and yellow button up, while a neon color-blocked puffer coat was worn over a velvety-burgundy polo shirt and houndstooth sweatpants. This mish-mash of classic sophistication with contemporary sportswear effortlessly captures the zeitgeist of what men (and women) want today. Looks like Todd Snyder has another hit on his hands!
