It’s always so dreamy in a Thom Browne show. Watching it, whether it is there in the actual venue or from our screens, is akin to being inside the mind of a child. This time, his dream was at the beach, with two blue-and-white-striped dressing huts where the models walked out from. As two bearded gnomes, ones who got lost from his spring 2019 menswear show, gave daisies to the audience, a flurry of imaginative looks were sent forth onto the runway. It seemed from the set that there was to be a nautical theme to the clothes, and while some bore this reference, it was an altogether eclectic extravaganza of fun, fashionable imaginations. Some stand-out looks included a translucent starfish-embellished cocktail dress with a gingham-printed bikini worn underneath. A shimmering gold sequined fishtail evening gown with a matching Chanel-esque jacket. A patchwork of various prints and textiles with similarly colorful pom-poms. Truth be told, about every look was a stand-out as each sort of deviated from the main theme. Yet everything still looked cohesive and sophisticated—a testament to the talent and taste of Mr. Browne.
