Refinement is rarely a word associated with ease and comfort, and yet all are vital in creating the perfect pieces to wear to work. High-quality and high-fashion workwear are what contemporary brand Theory is founded upon, and for Pre-Fall 2019, creative director Francesco Fucci highlights them for a new consumer audience. There was, as expected, fine tailoring involved, but not so strict and sharp that they’ll intimidate the young professionals who will and should wear them if they want to build corporate lives for themselves. This season, instead of having them worn the right way to create a more sophisticated look, Fucci had the model in his lookbook tie the jackets around her waist, as if to amplify the ease in the collection. Neutral-toned plaid and gingham make for more fascinating visuals, especially on a floaty midi day dress and a monochrome pantsuit. The silhouette this season is also quite long and lean, touches of Fucci’s pars works from The Row, in which here are more relaxed and elegant. These are definitely simple and no-fuss clothing for the contemporary sophisticate, and the world needs more of them nowadays.
