Greg Chait is evidently a sucker for pop culture, which came through with his latest Pre-Fall offering for The Elder statesman. Inspired by a sense of positivity and good vibes, his collection this season cool and colorful, much like most of his design sensibilities. He started it off with two looks, one of a menswear romper and another in a robe-like monochrome suit, both printed with children’s drawings of outer space. These two alone foreshadowed the youthful approach Chait used for this collection. And lo and behold, touches of innocence continues with the multi-colored striped pieces, sweaters with vintage road signage, and a tye-dye denim ensemble that most streetwear fans will surely go gaga over. Overall, the line looked like an optimistic view of today’s fashion world, but through the lens of past eras. And whatever state the world is in right now, as long as George Chait is in a good mood at The Elder Statesman, everything will be fine.
