Despite becoming a major topic in fashion today, Stella McCartney has been doing sustainable fashion for years. She rarely uses real animal-centric materials and often recycles her fabrics each season. Her Fall 2019 collection is no exception, but it’s how she reused them that made it one of the highlights of Paris Fashion Week! With a couple of years under her belt, McCartney has mastered constructing eco-friendly clothes that don’t scream their advocacy, rather they let the luxury speaks for itself. A beautifully crafted rainbow-hued dress, for instance, was actually made out of strips from old shirts the designer found in her studio. The beautiful caramel coat the opened the show was also a patchwork of previous textiles found in her recent collections. Recycling might seem like too much of an “arts and crafts” kind of practice, but as what Stella McCartney proved in this show, it can also lead to what looks like the most luxurious offering in the world!
