Spring launched just a few years ago with just 250 brands, but they have grown into more than 1,500 brands, with thousands of products available for every shopper that visits their website or opens their app. The wide collection within the digital shopping site keeps on getting larger with the addition of more pieces, which also keeps the selections fresh and updated.

The customers can quench their fashion thirst seamlessly and easily with the various categories the website has. The items for men, women, kids are all segregated, while special groups for beauty items and lifestyle pieces are also available. For the lifestyle pieces, Spring takes online shopping up a notch by offering tech and entertainment pieces alongside home items. This makes shopping even more exciting for the website’s audience.

The app and website offers a fast checkout process which is highly convenient. They also give free shipping to their shoppers, plus a policy on free returns. And although a few have encountered bumps along the way in terms of these services, there were a lot of praises given by their customers about how the Spring team handled order mishaps and shipping mistakes.

Introduction to Shopspring

If there is a company that has nailed the way of shopping through mobile, that would be Spring. Around for under five years, the shopping app has created such a buzz during its start because of the ease by which customers can access their favorite brands and browse must-have items. Although mobile shopping has been a thing for a considerable amount of time now, it was Spring which was among the first to make the experience intuitive and fun as much as possible. Today, more and more users are enjoying shopping with a phone on hand and a single click for check out on the screen.

Brought to you by the Tisch brothers

Alan and David Tisch - Founders of Shopspring

If you can’t just resist the urge to shop at all the great finds shown on Shopspring, you can thank (or blame, your pick) brothers Alan and David Tisch, who are both from New York. As younger versions of themselves, the duo already dipped their toes into online selling by setting bids on Ebay for their items that include footwear and baseball cards.

Together with Octavian Costache, the brothers began working on a mobile shopping app under the name Jello Labs. This was soon changed to Spring, taking inspiration after Manhattan’s Spring Street which is known for its high-end boutiques and restaurants, instead of the season. In 2014, Spring was released as an app exclusive for iPhone users. It took some time, but it was also developed later on for other platforms, such as iPads and Android phones. After being named as one of Apple’s best apps for 2014, it continued to gain attention and support in the form of investments from companies such as BoxGroup, Google Ventures, and Thrive Capital, as well as Yuri Milner.

For more than a year since it started, the website Spring maintained would only provide links to install the apps. It was only in 2015 that this changed, now allowing customers to buy through the website. It is also curated like its mobile app counterpart, showing personalized collections as well as recommendations for purchase.

A single app for everything

Most brands now have apps where you can buy their merchandise. But if you follow too many of them and have limited space on your device or do not want a cluttered screen, then installing separate apps is not really appealing. Enter Spring. You can be updated on new releases from your preferred brands, or find something new to love with more than 1500 brands selling their items through Spring. Plus, it is fun to scroll through pages as the items sold are not unlike magazine catalogues. Just like social media sites, a user can “follow” brands and “like” items.

Spring is like your department store that has almost everything on display, but it is different from a physical store because the mark-up on the prices are significantly lower. It does not disclose how much it earns from drop shipping, but what is important is that you will get a better price compared to when you have to go to shop at a department store. Spring made shopping fun, but also the more tempting. There’s one note, however. It does not have an inventory and uses a drop ship model. This means that all items on display are taken from the brand itself.

Although it is a standard practice for many merchants now, Spring was among the first to automatically fill out details of credit cards, retaining them with your first purchase on the app. It is secured, however, and cannot be read by the company as it is only for the shoppers’ convenience. The feature is great for retailers too, as there are less drops in customers when they don’t have to fill as many lines for information.

Brands and other features

From over a 100 partner brands in its first year to 1500-plus more today, you will inevitably find something to love from Spring. There’s Nicole Miller, Levi’s, Michael Kors, Alexander McQueen, Hugo Boss, Alexander Wang, Coach, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung and Rag & Bone, to name a few. There’s a lot more you can shop at just by downloading an app on your phone.

In 2016, Spring released a bot to be used on the messaging app Facebook Messenger. From there, customers can be guided through the items and be given personalized recommendation on what to buy, just like a personal shopping assistant. Meanwhile, in 2018, it started its own loyalty program it calls SpringBack, which is a shopper’s dream. With it, customers get 4 percent back every time they make a single purchase. It takes a little patience, though, as it can only be redeemed after 60 days. But you can do whatever you wish after that, probably check out that item you’ve been drooling over since you first “liked” it.

Convenient shopping for everyone

When the company made headlines some years back, it was deserved because it was pivotal in changing the way shoppers sealed the deal. Today, it has many more competitors in the market but it remains to be among the trusted. And with Spring growing significantly and having over 1500 brands as partners, that is pretty understandable. You have everything on here: apparel, accessories, home furnishings, even electronic devices. Retail therapy is just at the palm of your hands.
