Soul by Costume National Review
Description
If Soul from Costume National is indeed the brand’s spirit, then we would find it to be dark and mysterious, serious and rich. We don’t think it can be worn with abandon given its intensity, even when revolving around a common accord: amber. The beautifully complex scent is meant to appeal to both sexes, although it leans more on being masculine for us. If we had to quibble, Soul just does not feel like a leap far from the brand’s other scents, although it will give you much needed refinement and confidence on nights when they are most needed.

Positives
A mature scent that really lets amber shine through
We find that the oud in the background gives more character to the amber
Spicy and leathery, mysterious
Decent sillage and good staying power
Negatives
The fragrance takes time to like
Some of the fruity notes come off as artificial
Not different from previous releases from the brand

Save Big At:

Costume National chose a no-frills name for this 2015 scent, dubbing it as Soul because it is supposed to be the embodiment of the brand’s identity. It has called upon Dominique Ropion to plan its composition which is formed around amber. There were notes of cardamom, bergamot, pink pepper, oud, geranium, leather, patchouli, grey amber and vanilla. The bottle is in orange and so is the liquid, both of which create a nice contrast with the logo.
