24-hour wear is a huge claim for any concealer to make, especially undereye concealers, which are the most prone to breaking down with ease. This is what brought us to the Studio Skin Flawless 24 Hour Concealer by Smashbox. This product promises both extended wear and a polished, flawless look, so we took our chances.
The formula of this product is actually quite creamy, in a way that most concealers out in the market don’t quite get. Once you get the right amount of product on the applicator (we’ll get to that later), it glides effortlessly on the skin. The creaminess also goes hand-in-hand with the product’s great blendability that allows the product to look seamless on the skin. Once dried down, the concealer feels soft and satiny, making it very comfortable to wear even after long periods of time. Also adding to this comfort is the product’s ability to hydrate the areas covered by the concealer, which allows it to also avoid the dreaded cakey concealer look.
One thing that really bothered us about this concealer was the applicator. On the surface, it appears to be a standard-issue doe foot concealer applicator, but what bothers us is its mediocre ability to pick up product from the concealer tube. No matter how nice the formula feels to apply, it’s still a frustrating experience when you have to back in for product several times. Another possible point of frustration is also the slight creasing the product experiences without a loose setting powder. 24 hours of wear this does not give.
For a product in Smashbox’s price range, we just expected a much more put-together, and though it has plenty of wonderful qualities to it, it’s frustrating to use on the regular. We definitely don’t see ourselves reaching for this concealer over our other go-to’s on a regular basis.
