Despite his oftentimes over-the-top aesthetic, Han Chong knows that the women he’ll be dressing up today are ones that want easy-to-wear clothes that look nice and are high-quality. They don’t have to be show-stopping, but fascinating enough to encourage attraction and seduction. Fortunately, his Self-Portrait Resort 2019 line caters to those very women. Streamlined yet far from simple, he trotted out looks fit for a powerful woman in 2019, with a little help from the 80s. That help came in puffed silhouettes, eye-popping prints, and some shimmering velvet for equal measure. Despite such references, however, there was nothing short of contemporary in these clothes. Many of them looked versatile enough to be worn at work and to a date afterward. The slight touch of extravagance does not seem likely to interfere with the fast-paced lifestyles of Chong’s clients nowadays, making this collection one to watch out for.
